How To Keep The Kids Entertained This Summer

How To Keep The Kids Entertained This Summer

As the summer holidays roll in and kids across the country get more and more excited, you may start to wonder how to keep them entertained during the sunny season. With or without the sun shining, summer brings with it longer days and more energetic children, and we don’t want them to get up to (too much) trouble.

The best summer ideas for kids are activities that they can do by themselves, with friends, or with a little parental supervision. To that end, we’ve put together this summer bucket list for kids, with options for all! Keep reading to find out the six best ways to keep the little ones entertained this summer.

1. Karaoke!

It should come as no surprise that karaoke is our absolute favourite kids activity, and you can join them for this one too! Kids karaoke is an absolute blast for everyone involved and can help your child to gain confidence and singing skills. Plus, if you’re planning a kids party, getting hold of a karaoke kit or a karaoke subscription is a brilliant idea to kick things off on a high note.

2. Get Arty

If you get out the paints and glitter glue, you’re sure to see smiles on little faces. Our top tip is to get one large canvas and then each person adds a section or a few doodles to the canvas. Whether you’re doing this as a family or whip this one out at a kids party, you will create a colourful, unique artwork that will always remind you of this summer (even if it’s not a masterpiece).

If you’re a bit too busy to supervise, this plan can be adjusted with ease. Colouring in pages, crayons and pencils don’t pose too much of a threat and are great fun. There are really beautiful colouring book options these days, so this kids summer activity can work for all ages.

3. Splash Around

One of the best aspects of summer is the warmer weather, and it’s enough to make any kid ready to splash. If you have the space, you can set up sprinklers, a blow-up pool, or even plan a water balloon fight. All of these can also be done between children, with maybe just a smidge of adult supervision. Otherwise, consider heading to a water park, lake, or the sea.

4. Head to the Park

Getting out into nature is one of the best things to do in summer with kids. You can pack a picnic, or pick up an ice cream cone on the way to make this one extra sweet. And while the kids are clambering and climbing, you can take a breather in the fresh air.

5. Movie Marathon

Wondering why this one is on the summer list? Well, rainy days come in all seasons, and there is nothing like a comfy movie marathon on a rainy day. You can pick a theme that suits your kids, like Star Wars, or a Disney marathon. Best of all, you can then do a little Disney karaoke so that the kids can sing along to all the songs they liked best in the movies.

6. Get a Little Cultural

This one might feel a little bold, but many museums have fascinating interactive exhibits for the kids. There are also museums dedicated to all kinds of things, from aeroplanes to animals, so you can find one to suit their interests. And when you visit a museum, you know that your child is learning something while having fun.

If you can’t imagine them wandering through a museum or gallery, try the aquarium instead. No child can be bored while gazing at fluorescent fishies.
