Best Hip Hop Karaoke Songs: Top 20
If you prefer the art of spoken work over belting out power ballads, then this listicle is for you! If you can't, or don't want to, carry a tune, that doesn't mean you can't enjoy the numerous benefits karaoke has to offer.
And we can prove it.
The Lucky Voice song database has heaps of hip hop karaoke songs perfect for a rapper like you. It's less about the vocal stylings and more about the attitude you bring to the mic. And to make things even more straightforward, we've compiled a list of the best hip hop songs to try. But don't just take our word for it; try it yourself.
Top 20 best hip hop Karaoke songs
Counting down from 20 all the way to number one, are you ready to try them all? Grab your karaoke kit and set up a playlist:
20) Drake - Hotline Bling
If you didn't know this song when it was released, you'd surely have discovered it through the multiple parodies that were created in its name. One even made it onto SNL with an appearance from Donald Trump! We recommend singing the original, though.
19) Run D.M.C & Aerosmith - Walk This Way
There are a couple of pretty cool facts about this song; it was inspired by a Mel Brook comedy where somebody was told to 'walk this way' and then imitated a limp. It was an odd bit of inspiration, but we accept it if it resulted in this incredible number.
The remixed version of this song actually did better in the charts than the original! Anyway, this is the version we recommend as we step into hip hop karaoke territory.
18) The Notorious B.I.G. - Juicy
Have you ever had a teacher tell you you’d never amount to anything? Well, this song will certainly be a way to get all your frustrations out over that and any other hardship you’ve been through. We do love a good ‘person turned good’ story.
17) Jurassic 5 - Concrete Schoolyard
It wouldn't be a list of the 20 best hip hop karaoke songs without including this retro-feeling number from 2005. So if you have a couple of friends who also want to give hip hop karaoke a go, this is an epic song to start with.
16) Will Smith - Miami
Before (and a little during) Will Smith's rise to meteoric acting fame, he was pretty suave with a mic. So if you're looking for a hip hop song you can really have fun with, this is the number to go with. Don't forget to 'jig it out.'
15) Jay Z ft. Alicia Keys - Empire State of Mind
We recommend this song if you have a friend who loves belting it out on karaoke and is begging you to do a duet with them. Not only is Jay Z's section fun to rap, someone else does the heavy lifting with the epic chorus.
14) Rae Sremmurd - Black Beatles
While it's highly likely that you'll never be capable of singing this song with the same lethargic grace of Rae Sremmurd, it's still an incredibly enjoyable hip hop song to sing, which is kind of the whole point of karaoke.
13) OutKast - Hey Ya!
This is definitely a song to sing with the gang. Grab your mic and 'shake it like a polaroid picture!' This had to make it onto our list of karaoke hip hop gold! It's energetic, easy and will give you good feels.
12) Missy Elliot - Work It
If you're a fan of the noughties, then you'll definitely know (and love) this number from Missy Elliot. 'Is it worth it?' Heck yeah! It wouldn't be on our list if it weren't. Bring plenty of swag to this hip hop song, and you'll smash it.
11) 50 Cent - In Da Club
If you’re looking to stand out as karaoke hip hop royalty, try this number by 50 Cent. Even the BBC labelled this song as "a spectacular party anthem," and they do work with facts so...🤷.
10) A Tribe Called Quest - Can I Kick It?
We're halfway through our list of 20 best hip hop karaoke songs, and we had to honour it with another extraordinary 90s number. It has a great rhythm, is easy to follow and includes samples from other brilliant songs. So what's not to love?
9) Black Eyed Peas - Where Is The Love?
This song brought the Black Eyed Peas to the forefront of mainstream music and is still a success today. So if you're looking for karaoke hip hop songs you can sing with your friends, this one will certainly tick that box and give everybody the feels.
8) Dr. Dre - Still D.R.E. fr. Snoop Dogg
It wasn’t easy picking from Dr. Dre’s discography, but this one made the cut. Take to the stage and show everybody who’s boss with this number from his second album.
7) Coolio - Gangsta’s Paradise
What makes this hip hop song so karaoke-able? Is it the attitude you need to pull it off? Is it the fantastic rhythm? Is it the fact that it was used in the epic movie Dangerous Minds? We think it's all this and that the instrumentation and chorus are from one of the greats: Stevie Wonder. Can you guess which song?
6) Beastie Boys - Fight For Your Right
This is an epic song - so much so that this isn’t the only ‘official Lucky Voice best list’ it’s made its way onto. It’s a great choice if you’re a hip hop karaoke novice, as the chorus is just so darn catchy.
5) Macklemore & Ryan Lewis - Can’t Hold Us
This song may feel like a slow starter, but, boy, do things speed up about one and a half minutes in! Don't worry, though; there's plenty to rap in this 7-minute long tune. If you're looking for rap karaoke, then we challenge you to give this one a try. Actually, we don't challenge; we dare you.
4) 2pac ft. Dr. Dre - California Love
2Pac wrote his verse in under 15 minutes, insane, right! Another fun fact about this awesome tune is that Dr. Dre initially recorded three verses for this song. Unfortunately, there's only one copy of that version, and it sits with DJ Sam, the personal concert DJ of Snoop Dogg!
Don’t musical facts make karaoke hip hop even more fun?
3) Eminem - Lose Yourself
We could have added loads of super difficult Eminem songs to our list of best hip hop karaoke songs, but we had to give this spot to Lose Yourself, especially as it was the first-ever hip hop album to gain Academy Award status.
2) Blackstreet - No Diggity
This song takes second place because of its difficulty, making it the go-to song for anyone wanting to master hip hop karaoke. If you can get your tongue around the lyrics, it’s an absolutely brilliant song to smash.
1) The Sugar Hill Gang - Rapper’s Delight
And taking first place in our official list of epic hip hop karaoke songs is this delightful number from The Sugar Hill Gang. In contrast to the runner up, this is a fantastic song for Hip Hop novices, thanks to the mellow flow.
There you go. Whether you’re a karaoke novice or on the hunt to find a hip hop hit to add to your repertoire, you’ll definitely find something here.
